Label Printers & Print-and-Apply Systems

Desktop and industrial label printers plus automatic print-and-apply for cases and pallets.

Also called barcode label printers, LPA systems, case labellers and pallet labellers.

Label Printers & Print-and-Apply Systems
Overview

What these machines do

From a bench-top barcode printer to a fully automatic pallet labeller, this range prints variable data on demand and — where needed — applies the label in the same motion. It is the standard route to GS1-compliant case and pallet identification.

A thermal print engine images each label by direct thermal or thermal transfer. In a print-and-apply system the liner is stripped at a peel edge and the label is held on a vacuum pad, then tamped, blown or wiped onto the pack. Servo applicators measure the approach so varying case heights are labelled without crushing.

Typical options

  • Tamp, tamp-blow, wipe-on or corner-wrap applicators
  • Barcode scanner with re-apply logic
  • Low-label and ribbon-out beacon
  • Height-adjustable stand

How it works

Process sequence

Receive

Label data arrives from ERP, WMS or the line controller.

Print

The engine prints text, barcodes and graphics at 203–600 dpi.

Peel

The label separates from its liner and transfers to the applicator pad.

Apply

Tamp, blow or wipe-on places the label on the moving pack.

Check

A scanner reads the barcode and flags no-reads.

FAQ

Common questions

Direct thermal or thermal transfer?
Direct thermal needs no ribbon and suits short-life logistics labels. Thermal transfer gives durable, long-life print and works on synthetic labels.
What does a pallet label need to contain?
A GS1 logistics label carries the SSCC in both human-readable form and a GS1-128 barcode, usually on two adjacent sides of the pallet.
Can one applicator handle different case sizes?
Yes. Stroke-sensing tamp applicators adapt to height automatically within their stroke range.
