Case Coding Printers
Large-character and high-resolution printing of barcodes, logos and text directly on shipping cases.
Also called large-character inkjet printers, high-resolution case coders and carton printers.

What these machines do
Printing directly on corrugated cases removes pre-printed box inventory and labels. High-resolution piezo systems print GS1 barcodes and logos up to full panel height; valve-jet systems print rugged large characters on sacks, timber and drums.
Piezo printheads fire oil- or UV-based ink from hundreds of nozzles arranged in a vertical array, building the image as the case passes on the conveyor. Valve-jet (drop-on-demand) heads use seven or sixteen solenoid valves to place larger drops for bold alphanumeric text. A central controller manages one to four heads and takes data from ERP or WMS.
Typical options
- Second head for opposite-side printing
- Bulk ink system with low-level alarm
- Retracting head mount to protect against damaged cases
- Barcode validation scanner
